Events & Bar Manager

We are looking for a dynamic, intuitive and experienced manager to join our team. We are a small, independently owned family business offering a unique role to be a part of a busy, passionate and creative team who host daily events and hospitality experiences.

This position spans event team management, bar management and ‘on the day’ event delivery

This is the perfect role for anyone who has a sincere dedication and a great passion for hospitality. We are looking for an authentic, self motivated individual to deliver our busy schedule of events and develop plans for The Mowbray Bar, our Rooftop Bar 'Up On The Roof' and The Chimney House.

The role in time expands to include full involvement to deliver our third site - another restoration of another iconic Sheffield property into a brand new concept - another exciting chance to make your mark in the lifestyle, events and drinks industry. 

We offer great rates of pay and an excellent bonus structure based on performance. 

This is a full time role - and you must have 3 years proven experience of working to a senior/managerial role in restaurant, bar and events environments and a genuine desire to jump head and heart first into our business and to hit the ground running.

About You


We are looking for a great personality, someone who is well presented and who takes great pride in their work. 

You must be an excellent ‘all-rounder’ - self motivated and highly organised individual who values beautiful environments, exacting customer service and understands the commercial side of the business. 

You must have bar management experience and have a genuine passion for food, wine and cocktails and be able to talk knowledgeably about these integral parts of our business. You must also have the skills and knowledge around mixology. 

You will be responsible for running and developing a profitable and appealing cocktail bar and will take care of stock, suppliers and cocktails. 

You will have the natural ability to lead a team, have a team player attitude and understand how to deliver a fantastic experience for our customers. 

You must have a head for numbers and be able to report, forecast and be responsible for your own targets and those of your team. 

You will also have the ability to look beyond the day to day and look at the bigger picture for the business. 

You must be computer literate, be able to demonstrate great organisational skills, great on the phone and be a real people person!

Many of our events are in the evenings and at the weekend - so you must be able to wholeheartedly embrace this and get ready to be plunged into the busy and rewarding world of events. 

You will work with and report into senior management. 

The Roles Includes


Daily administration and office duties

Responsible for personally managing and delivering events at both venues.

You will be responsible for the delivery and hosting of large events from weddings to supper clubs to smaller events which you may host as an individual. 

Our events span from meetings/conferences and smaller private dining to 150 seated weddings and private dining events to sell out supper clubs. 

You will manage the Front of House and Bar Team at The Mowbray and The Chimney House as well as being ‘hands on’ during service. You’ll also take care of recruitment, training and incentivising performance.  

You will work alongside the chef team at The Mowbray Kitchen to develop new dining and bar concepts. In the aftermath of Covid-19 we are diversifying our scope alongside private events. 

You will assist and looking after viewings and consultations across both venues on evenings and weekends

Being an integral part of our busy wedding schedule from consultations to planning through to being responsible for delivering 5 star wedding experiences.

Your day to day will be in two beautiful and creative environments which are busy, bustling, vibrant and very much people centric so we are looking for someone with a passion and commitment for great service and customer experience.

You will also spend time working in the multi award winning design studio 93ft which is based above The Mowbray and where our senior management team are headquartered. 

Delivering events at both The Chimney House and The Mowbray means you must have the ability to work flexible hours, including day, night and weekends.
