Events Assistant Manager

We are looking for an eager, confident, composed, authentic and self motivated individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude to support our Event Delivery Manager and to play an important part in the delivery of our busy schedule of events across 2, soon to be three venues - The Mowbray, The Chimney House and The Victoria. 

This is the perfect role for anyone who has a sincere dedication to delivering a creative, profitable and world class experience with a great passion for hospitality and a clear understanding and enjoyment of this industry across daytimes, evenings and weekends.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a balance of ‘event coordination’ and hands on running ‘live events’. The split is around 30/70

Our events offer a great mix of all types of events and span from weekday meetings/conferences and smaller private dining to 150 seated weddings and private dining events to sell out supper clubs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is someone at Supervisor/Team Leader level currently working in a bar and hospitality role who is looking to make that next step in their career.

Someone with all the sound practical experience of running a busy service leading a team, and/or a bar, who is looking to develop their career or break into the world of events.

You should be confident in talking about brands, drinks and cocktails and able to have good rapport with our guests.

Our busy bar serves an ambitious, competitive and creative menu of seasonal, homemade ingredients, bespoke cocktails, interesting wines and champagnes, quality spirits and local and international beers.

We would prefer that you have a full driving license.

You’ll report into our Event Delivery Manager and will work alongside our Head Bartender, our chefs and the rest of the Head Office Team. You will be responsible for all guest experiences alongside the Head of House and Operations Manager at The Mowbray and The Chimney House, and our beautiful new venue, The Victoria You will be key in supporting our Event Delivery Manager to nurture and lead our future cohorts of team leaders, and a wide pool of multidisciplinary events team members.

A SALARIED ROLE

We offer great rates of pay and potential for bonus structure based on performance as well as the chance to work in beautiful venues and as part of a like minded, creative and close knit team working towards a common goal which is to deliver world class events.

This is a full time salaried role - and you must have up to 2 years proven experience of working in hospitality and a genuine desire to jump head and heart first into our business and to hit the ground running.

WEEKENDS & EVENINGS

The majority of our events are in the evenings and at the weekend - so you must be able to wholeheartedly embrace this and get ready to be plunged into the busy and rewarding world of events.

Your willingness to dedicate time, effort and energy to making this role your own is incredibly important to us - as is total transparency and honesty.

We are looking for someone who is truly committed to the nature of hosting events - and who is able and willing to work positively and with a great attitude from the start of an event to the close of an event.

THE ROLE INVOLVES

Reporting into and working alongside our Event Delivery Manager and supporting the Head of House to ensure the successful delivery of all of our Events

Being ‘hands on’ pre, during and post service and leading our casual event team and our Team Leaders in a professional and motivational style.

Set up / Break down of a bar / good knowledge of spirits and drinks and proven experience of making cocktails to an exceptionally high standard

You will work closely alongside our Head of House, Operations Manager, Events Delivery Manager and The Mowbray Kitchen to ensure a flawless event experience for our customers with our seasonality and ingredient led ethos at the heart of everything we do.

You will be given full training to understand fully ‘behind the scenes’ administration from first contact from a customer through to handling event schedules and ensuring flawless delivery on the day

You will work closely with the rest of the team to prepare Event Plans, delegate to and empower our teams, and ensure proper preparation.

You will also be responsible for coordinating our House Events - Supper Clubs etc… Working alongside customers and looking after table plans and customer communications.

Key holder responsibilities and overseeing events up to the end of the event and breakdown and preparing for the next event.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a great personality, someone who is well presented and who takes great pride in their work and loves working with people.

You must be an excellent ‘all-rounder’ - self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills who values beautiful environments, exacting customer service and understands the commercial side of the business. It is important that you are also intuitive and able to anticipate clients' needs.

Bar experience is essential

You must be highly organised, practically minded problem solver and able to prioritise tasks to look ahead to what’s coming up in the next week/month.

You must have a genuine passion for food, wine and cocktails and be able to talk knowledgeably and confidently about these integral parts of our business.

You must have a natural curiosity for new ideas, new ways and have a passion for improving your knowledge.

You must have a natural ability to lead a team, have a team player attitude and understand how to deliver a fantastic experience for our customers. The role does involve leading the team at either venue - so we are looking for a confident individual who understands their responsibilities.

You will also have the ability to look beyond the day to day and look at the bigger picture for the business.

You must be computer literate, know your way around a spreadsheet and be able to demonstrate great organisational skills, great on the phone and be a real people person!

Forward thinking, you must have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple events, sometimes under pressure.

You will work with and report into senior management.

Salary and bonus structure is based on experience and performance

Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £27,000.00 per year
