Events Delivery Assistant

We are excited to offer a fantastic new role for The Mowbray and The Chimney House. A full time Events Delivery Assistant - working alongside our Head of Events Delivery it will be your responsibility to help us to deliver all of our Weddings and Events.

We are a small, independently owned family business offering a unique role to be a part of a busy, passionate and creative team who host daily events and hospitality experiences. 

We are looking for a confident, composed, authentic and self motivated individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude to join our team to be a large part of the delivery of our busy schedule of events.

Working alongside the Head of Event Delivery you will be responsible for the Front of House & Bar Team and all guest experiences alongside Head of House at The Mowbray and The Chimney House.

Our events span from weekday meetings/conferences and smaller private dining to 150 seated weddings and private dining events to sell out supper clubs at the weekends. 

Excitingly the role in time expands to include full involvement to deliver our third site - another restoration of another iconic Sheffield property into a brand new concept. This is a full time salaried role - and you must have up to 2 years proven experience of working in hospitality and a genuine desire to jump head and heart first into our business and to hit the ground running.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is someone at Supervisor/Team Leader level currently working in a pub/restaurant/cafe who is looking to make that next step in their career. Someone with all the sound practical experience of running service, who is looking to develop their career.

It is important to note that the majority of our events take place over a weekend - on Saturday and Sunday and also midweek evenings. Ideally - you will already be used to working in hospitality and understand that after you have delivered the event - breakdown and sometimes re-set for the next event is necessary - so late finishes are to be expected.     

THE ROLE INVOLVES

Working alongside and supporting the Head of Events Delivery and ensuring the successful delivery of all of our Events

Working alongside Head of Events Delivery to create and develop new cocktails and drink strategy each season.  Bar experience is preferable. 

Being ‘hands on’ pre, during and post service and leading by example.  

You will work closely alongside our Head of House, Events Assistant, Head of Event Delivery and The Mowbray Kitchen to ensure a flawless event experience for our customers with our seasonality and ingredient led ethos at the heart of everything we do. 

You will be given full training to work alongside Head of House and our Events Assistant to understand fully ‘behind the scenes’ administration from first contact from a customer through to handling event schedules.

You will be given full training to lead all types of events at The Mowbray and The Chimney House. 

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a great personality, someone who is well presented and who takes great pride in their work. 

You must be an excellent ‘all-rounder’ - self-motivated and highly organised individual who values beautiful environments, exacting customer service and understands the commercial side of the business.

 You must have a genuine passion for food, wine and cocktails and be able to talk knowledgeably and confidently about these integral parts of our business. 

You must have a natural curiosity for new ideas, new ways and have a passion for improving your knowledge. 

You must have a natural ability to lead a team, have a team player attitude and understand how to deliver a fantastic experience for our customers. The role does involve leading the team at either venue - so we are looking for a confident individual who understands their responsibilities. 

You will also have the ability to look beyond the day to day and look at the bigger picture for the business. 

You must be computer literate, be able to demonstrate great organisational skills, great on the phone and be a real people person!

Forward thinking, you must have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple events, sometimes under pressure.

Many of our events are in the evenings and at the weekend and include some late night finishes - so you must be able to wholeheartedly embrace this and get ready to be plunged into the busy and rewarding world of events. 

You will work with and report into senior management. 

The salary starts at £19,000 per annum - but is negotiable based on experience. Plus - performance related bonus.
